Conference of Ministers of Education

The Conference of Ministers of Education is one of three sub-conferences within the Standing Conference of the Ministers of Education and Cultural Affairs (KMK). It brings together the state ministers and senators responsible for education.

The central task of the Education Conference is to ensure the highest possible level of mobility and to contribute to the equivalence of living conditions throughout Germany. It guarantees the uniformity and comparability of certificates and qualifications, ensures mutual recognition, maintains quality standards in schools and vocational training, and promotes the equivalence of vocational and academic education.

Challenge up: Heartbeat and high tech for Germany’s students!

“In view of the many challenges facing our education system, it is particularly important to me, as President of the Conference of Ministers of Education in 2026, that children and young people can grow into strong personalities. That is why we want to harness digital developments with energy and responsibility while at the same time promoting physical and mental strength. To achieve this, we rely on sports and movement, as well as on a healthy and positive performance culture. We trust young people, and we show that achievement can be something truly exciting. We need a lived culture of personality development. I stand for education of the heart — for a genuine heartbeat.

My motto for Bavaria’s presidency is therefore: ‘Challenge up: Heartbeat and high tech for Germany’s students!’ Let’s tackle this together!”
